A TALE of ARLINGTON. A Tale that never ends. Arlington is situated 7 miles NE of Barnstaple on the A39, in North Devon in the UK. Most of the village belongs to one estate, namely Arlington Court. The last encumbant was a Miss Rosalie Chichester who had no descendants and left the estate to the National Trust when she died in 1949. She was a much seasoned traveller as can be seen by the extensive collections in the house. There have been many changes since, some good, some not so good; that's life. The house and gardens are open to the public in the summer season, including an extensive Carriage Museum in the stable block, and locals walk the grounds all year. There are still quite a few working farms on the estate; some diversifying into farm shops and summer accommodation. Many of the remaining cottages and houses are rented out. We will let others tell their story; others who grew up and worked in the village from some time ago till now. The parish also now has its own monthly magazine. Read on through the pages of this website and enjoy, maybe visit Arlington.ARLINGTON PARISH COUNCIL Do you know who your parish councillors are?
